Fabrication Studio is a new architecture practice based in Toronto that is focused on Garden Suites and Laneway Suites. Our goal is to provide beautiful housing at a compact scale to improve yards, lanes and neighborhoods while also densifying the city. We also want the design process to be as accessible and as straightforward as possible.

We are now accepting new projects for spring/summer 2026.

Two tall maple trees stand close together at the top of the site. The small residential lot is very, very steep. To add a structure, we needed to interrupt the slope with two concrete retaining walls that extended from the topography out to the street...

PROTPTYPE - GARDEN SUITE

Garden suites are intimate by nature - the occupant must walk by the main house to access their dweliing. Red house explores how the garden and the structure can act as a screen to seperate the two homes, allowing for light and depth without sacrificing privacy.

SUNKEN HOUSE
PROTOTYPE - GARDEN SUITE

The garden suite achives visual separation from the main house by simply being lower. The sunken ground floor sperates sight lines, and adds great height to a tiny building. Hanging lights and tall curtains accentuate height - an unusal characterisic for an ADU. A small home can provide the experience of exapnsiveness.
